A Guide to Summer Entertainment in June in New York City

In June New York City turns into an outside city. It is time to enjoy the great outdoors New York City Style and get some great entertainment in as well, and some of it for free. Entertainment in the summer in New York City takes on many faces, educational, music and ethnic, each face brings something special to New York City and the residents and visitors alike who have a chance to attend. Be sure to check the ones that require tickets and get your tickets as early as possible. These events are sell outs each year. June is just the beginning of the Summer Season in New York City and why not get it off to a roaring start. These are great entertainment events for the whole family and by the time June rolls around, the children will be looking to get out and do different things. School will be winding down, vacation not yet started and it is a great time for family activities, before they get off to summer camp and into a world of their own. So bring them along and make some early Summer memories to last until fall.

The Museum Mile Festival

The museums on Fifth Avenue are among the biggest attractions in New York City and on June 12th from 6-9 PM you can see as many of the nine museums for free as you want. There will be special kids activities and Fifth Avenue along Museum Mile will be closed to traffic. There will be free entertainment all along the way. It is a great time and one of the busiest events in the city.

National Puerto Rican Day Parade

Nothing says New York City more than a parade and this one is a great source for free entertainment. This year, 2007, marks the fiftieth anniversary of the parade and all the associated festivities. On June 2 there is the 152nd. Street Cultural Festival 152nd. Street (Between Jackson & Union Ave. On June 3rd, there is a special Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral and they have other paid and free events leading up to the parade on June10th. There are events in different boroughs, so check the schedule on the site and try to attend at least one, and of course make plans to be on Fifth Avenue on the big day.
