How to Be an Internet Superstar

If your child was pictured on a website seen by tens of thousands of people a day, would you care? Wouldn't you know it? If your daughter was shaking a champagne bottle in a r-rated music video on the Internet, wouldn't you know it? If she was becoming a sleazy byword in area nightlife, could you do anything about it?

To thinking, mature adults, Cory Kennedy is merely someone who has performed a handshake deal for introductions and freebies, to bypass school and the rest of it. These perks are traded in a mutual admiration society for favors in a tax-free ring of somewhat influential but limited payoffs.

Cory's image is then purposely projected as "someone to watch", as if her own personality and credibility get her clothes, access, and publicity, instead of a spreadsheet-driven plan and press machine. She sells the Clothes and designers Steve Aoki and Jarrett like, and they promote her. But somewhere, somehow, this has been confused with Cory's having style, or charisma.

If your daughter was sponsored by a kid millionnaire DJ to host parties at clubs she wasn't legally old enough to get into or drink at, would you know? Or would it be feasible legally to claim you didn't know? Would you want a high school diploma from a parent this clueless?

Posting pictures of jailbait girlfriends is a pretty old trick. Doing it with mom's approval is kind of new. From recent press, it seems Cory's mother has convinced herself she had some kind of "watchfulness' over the whole proceedings, yet claims to be in denial of most of what has gone on. The Los Angeles Times interviewer is careful not to go into detail.

If you made your living stamping diplomas in support of education advantages, would your clubbing daughter have at least a high school education? What is all this access for? What's in it for Cory? Will she be marrying for money and moving to the Bahamas soon?

Jinx Kennedy-Levin runs a Santa Monica high school equivalency organization, or something. Aoki sells records, Jarrett sells magazines, Hunter gets more gigs. Cory does....unspecified. What "career" is she actually in possession of? Found object?
