With over 50 rides, constant entertainment, games and food vendors around every corner, and constant changes and additions, Kennywood Park has been a tradition for many Pennsylvanian families from generation to generation. This park which is considered a national landmark has been in operation for over 80 years and continuously finds new and inventive ways to create a better atmosphere for it's guests.

This is a Pittsburgh park, however, it's reputation has evolved from state to state and often attracts visitors from all over the East Coast. Possibly this park is legendary for having one of the fastest roller coasters in the world. It is also unique that Kennywood has two of their original wooden roller coasters which continuously attract the public. Or, it simply may be, that besides having a seperate "kiddie land" amusement park for the children, Kennywood is so successful due to the length of their stay in the Pittsburgh area.

I must say, that I love amusement parks, in general. I have been to Six Flags, ventured the different countries at Busch Gardens, and often dream of eventually going to Disney World. The truth is, Kennywood may not be as large as Disney, but the joys and times a family will share are comparable. With over four coasters, and hundred feet drops, it is easy to compare this park to a larger chain amusement facility. The park, itself, has all of the major rides like the log jammer, raging rapids, the whip, and other favorites but can be less costly than others. The kid's park, alone, has over 14 rides to entertain the children, and several others for the whole family to participate in. Each year, in fact, it seems that Kennywood keeps adding on to their agenda. From the main site on the internet, they are advertising a new ride, already for the summer of 2007.

Kennywood has that family park feel. I love it-it reminds me of my youth at Euclid Beach Park in Cleveland in the 60's.
