System of a Down Breaks Through with Another Hypnotizing Album! Hypnotize
Super Hot Nu-Metal Group System of a Down Release Their New Masterpiece Hypnotize
After an album of unreleased material from the 'Toxicity Recordings' was released in 2002, the band went back into the studio and started working on their next treat to the world. They released 'Mezmerize' on May 17th, their first in a two-album set. 6 months later they have released the second album in that set, 'Hypnotize.'
Both the CD and DualDisc versions feature 12 new songs as well as artwork by Vartan Malakian, father of SOAD's guitarist/singer Daron. The packaging for Hypnotize is specially designed to physically join Mezmerize and Hypnotize together, forming one unified package with continuous artwork. More importantly, the albums interlock musically. The final track on Hypnotize, "Soldier Side" completes "Soldier Side Intro," which appears as the opening track on 'Mezmerize.'
Additionally, the DualDisc edition contains a film by Gariné Torossian which explores the making of both records.
As for the music itself, long time fans of the Los Angeles based quartet will be glad to know this music is a welcomed return to System Of A Down's musical roots. Fans of the hard-edged metal they listened to growing up, it reflects in their no-holds barred, take-no-prisoners style of rock and roll. The time changes are sharp, creating vast mood changes. The chords call
to your body to get into the mosh pit and throw all caution to the wind. Much harder album than it's first mate. This album
feels like as a band they have come full circle now. Great album, and great music to forget your problems to.
A great CD for all Old fans and all New Fans. Enjoy!
