The Mountain View Band Exclusive

The Mountain View had one of their first performances at The Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California. Founded in 2005, they then began touring around the country in 2006 and have been unstoppable ever since. The rise and rise of this band has come with its challenges. With a relocation from west to east coast and back the band manages to keep it all about the music. A growing fan base keeps the buzz around the band endless. Chris Coghill of The Mountain View took the time to share with me what his band is all about and where they are heading in future for which I greatly appreciate. Q. 1# Chris, Tell me in your own words about your band The Mountain View?

A. Well we are an acoustic Emo band based out of Orange County, CA. All the lyrics I write are about love, which started with my girlfriend of four years, I started writings songs about her, and when we broke it off, I changed some of the song lyrics, and titles and retired others completely, not because of the lack of feeling but I knew that it was time to move on, the songs I kept, I still play because they are generic and I still feel that way only for someone else now. Sense then I have written a lot of new songs, still about love, but usually after me latching on to something I heard and i build a song from there. The chords are nothing too technical because, well, love is technical enough, so we try to let the message shine through. The reason that most of the lyrics I write are generic is because when I was little and had girlfriends I was always looking for "Our Song" and there was always one line in there that screwed up the songs meaning for me. So I decided that instead of trying to find that with every girl I ended up being with, I would just make my own "Our Song" and if it were generic then hopefully the kids that are looking can find it in my music.
