Child Birth After Forty

Celebrities and everyday people are having children after they are forty. They seem to see this as a new milestone in their life.

What are the reasons behind this? Could it be that most people want to get their careers started so that they can plan for a family later or is that they just got off to a late start in creating a much larger
 family?

What ever reason that they may have, they should consider all of the possibilities that come along with having children after you have reached forty.

My aunt, who had three other children, decided that she wanted to have another child when she was forty-two years of age. She went to a fertility specialist to get help with conceiving a child. She found out that the possibility of her having a child was great with the help of the doctor. She was on infertility medication for almost six months before she became pregnant.

Not long after she became pregnant, she had a miscarriage. The doctor told her that this was not uncommon in women her age and that they could continue with medication if she wanted to. She did and almost a year later, she became pregnant again.

To her surprise, she became pregnant with twins. Twins are not uncommon when you are taking infertility medication. The infertility medication causes a women's eggs to release more easily and sometimes may cause two or more eggs to release at the same time.

My aunt was montitor throughout her pregnancy. She was given multiple test to make sure that the fetus' and her were going to have a safe pregnancy. Some of the test included, an ultra sound every month to make sure that they were safe, she had a tube put into her uterus to check the amniotic fluid, and multiple more test to check her status and to make sure that the children would be born healthy.

After going through one test after another, her children where born on Christmas and four months earlier than what they were suppose to be born.

The doctor ended up having performing a Cesarean on her, he said that this is usually performed on women of her age and especially on women caring multiple children.

Sophie is WRONG! My mother is a doctor and it IS dangerous to have a kid after 40. Yes, you should be monitored and all sorts of tests can in fact make sure you have a normal baby, but it is STILL classified as "dangerous" medically. Sophie is the THIRD child - it is the FIRST child that doctors worry about. If Sophie's mom had already given birth successfully to two other children, being pregnant after 40 with a THIRD child is no problem. It is the FIRST child they worry about.

My aunt also went through the same thing and she was almost devastated when she nearly lost the child. Thanks for this article

Pregancies can have risks at any age. Besides that, the cost of living plays a factor in delaying marriages these days. It is improtant for children to have stability and mature parents. Much of today's youth aren't ready for parenthood.I know of such cases.
