How to Start Collecting Key Chains
Here I'm talking about the real key chain, the one holds your house key, car key, office key. Not the fancy virtual key chain software which maintain your online user-name and password.
I'm not saying collecting key chain is a hard task, but really, you need some guide lines to start your collecting so that this collecting can last longer. And you will get more fun out of the collecting.
Pick a topic. You will appreciate your collection more couple years later because your collection has a topic. For example, I collect key chains from souvenir stores when I go on a trip. Over 10 years I have visited so many places and there is no way I'm going to remember all the details. But key chain I bought is like a travel log that help me remember what was going on in that trip.
Pick something affordable. You might be thinking: how expensive can a key chain be? Well, I have seen key chain range from $1.99 to couple hundred dollars. Those expensive ones are usually made by some designers or have some big brand names. For example, key chains from Coach or Tiffany jewelry. As attractive as they might be, don't fall for them. Instead, save that money for many more others which are as cute as those.
Don't just buy anything from Internet. Unless it is dirt cheap, don't buy those "collections" that was done by someone already. You want something that is meaningful to you. And you will want to build your collection on your own instead of inherit it from somebody you don't even know from the Internet.
Display your key chain collection. Don't just by the key chain and throw it in some corner of your drawer. You would lose it eventually. Display them! Put your collection in a shadow box and hang it on the wall if the displayed number is not too big. If you have too many to put in a shadow box, you may consider display only some of them at one time. Well, no one will watch every one of your key chains if you put hundreds of them on the wall altogether.
