My daughter has been asking to take ballet classes for almost a year, but as parents likely know, time flies by and I got sidetracked more times than I could count. When I saw the sign for 3 introductory Babyballet
classes for GBP 15, I jumped at the opportunity to enroll Samantha. She was overjoyed. Though she's only had a few classes, her first ballet experience has been both memorable and enjoyable, thanks to Babyballet.

What is Babyballet?

Babyballet is a nationwide organization, offering classes throughout the United Kingdom. Classes are offered for a variety of ages and ability levels, for children ages 6 months to 5 years. They offer franchise opportunities, so each Babyballet experience will be slightly unique, while still following the Babyballet principles and general program layout. According to the Babyballet website, the program morphs into Academy Dance after the age of 4, offering further ballet opportunities for older children.

Pricing

Babyballet is reasonably priced, with 3 introductory classes for GBP 15. After the introductory classes, you can pay a small membership fee, and then each class is GBP 6. Classes are offered during term time and last for 35 minutes. Our Babyballet classes were offered in a local kids' play place, so free entry was included, and my daughter could play both before and after the class. I was also able to stay and have a cup of coffee and give her some time to herself while she was dancing!

Classes

My daughter is enrolled in Babyballet's newest class option, for 4-5 year olds. They offer classes for children as young as 6 months, though parental involvement is required for those classes. Early classes focus on movement, with later classes introducing beginning ballet techniques. Children enrolled in Babyballet's classes also learn to follow directions, to listen to adults other than their own parents, and to gain some control of their bodies and gross motor control.
