Each day, new medical evidence is released to support the correlation between specific health complications and our pre-disposition based body shape and fitness levels. For women, this medical research provides an even greater outlook into potential health complications simply based upon fat composition and distribution.

Specifically, medical research has suggested that women should classify their frames as one of two types, either pear shaped or apple shaped. From this determination, we can further predict what our future health risks may be and, from there, begin to focus diet, nutrition and exercise accordingly.

In terms of psychological health, women with pear shaped figures are believed to be pre-disposed to different mental health disorders than their counterparts, the apple shaped woman. Believing there is a body and mind connection to our mental health, women may have the ability, to some degree, to determine their pre-disposition to mental health complications simply based on the displacement of adipose tissue.

In mental health, stress ties very closely into other mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety and anger. When stress is elevated, so are other mental health complications. As this occurs, there is an increased secretions of cortisol leading to an increased risk for developing a more apple shaped figure. For women pre-disposed to apple shape figures, this pre-disposition to carry additional weight around the torso is only compounded into a vicious cycle in which more cortisol is released, leading to greater depression, weight gain and then a greater apple shaped appearance.
