My Take on the Website Public-Records-Now.com
Selling My and Your Personal Information for Profit!

Now that I have pushed over the age 40 bubble, and find myself almost ready to teeter over the edge to age 50, not too much ruffles my feathers like it did when I was young. I rarely get the urge to carry a sign, or make a protest. You get to a place in life and think what the heck, let the twenty-somethings do it. But then I stumbled across a website linked to my daughter's name. The website url: http://www.public-records-now.com linked directly from a site I know and love so well, Associated Content. In truth I clicked on the link just because it had my daughters name on it. The page opens up and appears to have her personal data available for sale, to the public, anyone, anytime, you pay them the money, the information is yours. No asking her permission for her information. I have to say this really, seriously ticked me off. Any freak can have her address, I am livid! I type in my name and it not only brings me up, but my possible relatives. You can purchase mine, her's and YOUR personal information online including: background check, criminal check, credit history, employment history, bankruptcy, liens, marriages, divorce, they will even let you buy the information to answer the question we've all been wondering...am I dead? I'll tell you what, paypal me $9.00 and I'll tell you if I'm alive or dead, it is my freaking life, and my information, and if someone is to profit from it, hey...it damned well better be me!We have all kinds of regulations to protect our personal information. Remember the big deal of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability act). Your own physician can't share your information, or sell it, you have to sign releases to move your medical records from one hospital or doctor to the next. Yes people, that's the idea! That is the kind of privacy I've been thinking I had all along. Your bank can't start selling your account information, there are laws against it. That's right! The bank knows I have rights!!!
