Spring Fitness is More Than Adding Tulip Booster
A Fun Gardening and Personal Fitness Poem About Spring for National Poetry Month
Got the bulb booster strapped to my back, got the bulb plunger stuffed in my pack,
Knee pads are pulled onto my knees,
I sprinkle, sprinkle seeds with glee.
I'm not the first out digging the mud.
Or bent over afterward like an out of shape dud.
The little side yard of daffodil and tulips
Seems more like a mile than a mere dirt slip.
Arm lifts build muscles tossing the dirt,
Guts get tighter bending over and hurt.
But iris needs splitting and daisies cut back,
All this pain should pay off, with no flowers to lack.
My anguish and sorrow taken out with a knife
hacking at weeds that don't deserve their life.
My fanny I'm sure is tighter than ever,
I'd go look in the mirror but need a lever.
To get me up and fit to hang flowers over ear
and find a sweet guy who calls me his dear.
