Michael Luchies 2009 NFL Mock Draft Picks 11-20
#11. Buffalo Bills- Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State
The Bills had the 26th ranked pass rush, Maybin is the man to significantly improve that number. At #11 this is the best pick they could possibly make here even with Andre Smith and Mark Sanchez still on the board.
#12. Denver Broncos- Rey Maualuga, MLB, USC
The fans in Denver will be screaming for Sanchez, but a linebacker of Maualuga's quality isn't easy to come by. Maualuga will play the Mike for Denver and become a fan favorite.
#13. Washington Redskins- Mark Sanchez, QB, USC
The Redskins have been looking for playmakers and now will lock up their franchise quarterback in Sanchez. Sanchez may not start the first year, but if Campbell can't "not lose" games for the Redskins, Sanchez may be forced onto the field in '09. The Redskins get Sanchez rather cheap at pick #13.
#14. New Orleans Saints- Brian Cushing, OLB, USC
New Orleans will pick up their man at the OLB spot in Cushing. Cushing is most likely 2nd on the Saints board behind Aaron Curry at OLB.
#15. Houston Texans- Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois
Although the Texans desperately need a safety, Louis Delmas may be a reach at 15. With Davis on the board, Houston can't pass this high of caliber corner.
#16. San Diego Chargers- Andre Smith, OT, Alabama
How far the mighty have fallen. I expect Smith to fall to the middle of the 1st round, and the Chargers look like a perfect team for Smith. The Chargers need another blocker to improve the run game. Smith's personality flaws may help the Chargers land the best tackle in the draft at #16.
#17. New York Jets- James Laurinaitis, ILB, OSU
In the 3-4 D the Jets need a playmate for David Harris, Laurinaitis should do just fine. Although the Jets need a franchise QB, unless they trade up I don't see them taking a QB at 17 unless Sanchez is still on the board. I do not think they will take Freeman here.
#18. Denver Broncos- Malcolm Jenkins, CB, OSU
Jenkins will be a perfect fit for the Broncos need at free safety. With Jenkins and Maualuga in the first round, the Broncos have just changed their defense from worst to...well not worst anymore, at least middle of the pack.
