Most women do not think about taking care of the skin around their eyes until it already starts to show signs of aging. Taking care of the skin around your eyes requires individual products and a different routine that you are already using for regular skin care. There are several products available to care for the skin around your eyes which is thinner than the rest of the skin on our face causing signs of aging to appear in this area first.

Here are some tips that you can use to smooth out crows feet, reduce puffiness and minimize those dark circles under your eyes.

How to Get Rid of Puffy Eyes: The skin around the eyes becomes puffy when it retains water as a result of allergies, alcohol or salty foods. Sometimes we are just unfortunate enough to naturally have puffy eyes occur as a result of extra fat tissue. One of the quickest ways to reduce temporary puffiness and even prevent puffiness from occurring regularly is to drink water. Water naturally reduces the buildup of fluid and flushes out excess sodium in our body. A hydrated body will not need to store fluids and puffy eyes will be history.

If your puffy eyes are caused by allergies try treating your allergy with over the counter medications or those prescribed by your doctor. Antihistamines prevent the puffy and watery eyes that go along with allergies.

How to Minimize Fine Lines: Crow's feet are those irritating little lines that appear at the corners of the eyes but their appearance is enhanced by sun damage. Unless you can manage to keep a completely expressionless face for the remainder of your lifetime the collagen in your skin around the eyes will constantly break down so look for products that contain retinol. Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Anti-wrinkle eye cream is one of the best I have tried and it is very affordable under twenty dollars. When I am traveling Estee Lauder Perfectionist Power Correcting Patches can easily be applied and left on for a few minutes and conveniently slip into the smallest pocket of my bag.

I'm going to try a few of your suggestions. I am 34 and over the past few months I have been VERY unhappy with the area around my eyes. Blah! Thanks for the advice!

You have given me hope! Seriously! I did not know about these particular products and your advice has reinforced some facts that I have read elsewhere. Cheers!

Silly me. The title made me think this was actually about taking care of your *eyes*.

Thanks for the eye care tips! Unfortunately, I am one of those unlucky ones who has the hereditary dark circles that are made worse by allergies, and I have been meaning for a long time to buy a Vitamin K undereye circle treatment. Even reducing the appearance of them and lessening my need to glob on concealer would be great.

Really great advice. I will have to start drinking more water now.

I liked this article. I take heart medicine and Blood pressure medicine which makes me look older. I will try the water and eye cream, to reduce signs of aging. Thanks,

I hate wearing makeup, but when I have job interviews I always have to pay special attention to this area. I have problems thanks to contacts and allergies! For a future article idea, I'd love to see something about skin care for different skin types. I have a heck of a time because my skin is so fair--sometimes it's hard to find products light enough to complement my tone. I am sure an article that included tips for Latinas and African-American women would also be very helpful/popular.
