The Mudslinging has begun! Hillary Clinton and her staff are up in arms over a comment made by David Geffen, Hollywood Executive and former supporter of Bill Clinton's Presidency. Geffen, who is now adding financial fuel toward Barak Obama's presidential nomination, tells New York Time's columnist Maureen Dowd "Everybody in politics lies, but they" [the Clintons] "do it with such ease, it's troubling." He goes on to describe Hillary as "overproduced and scripted", while simply calling Bill a "reckless guy". When asked to confirm his statements, Geffen took a Yeah...I said it! stance and added that his comments "reflect solely my personal beliefs."
Don't laugh....but Clinton and her people are actually calling for Obama to denounce Geffen's statements AND sever financial ties with him (meaning give back a portion of the 1.3 million dollars Geffen either gave to Obama or helped raise for him).
Pause for a second....HAS SHE LOST HER D*** MIND?!!!!!!!!...unpause....
The audacity and hypocrisy of this request is appalling!
First of all, why should Obama apologize for a statement he didn't make? While Geffen is a financial supporter of the Obama campaign, he is not formally connected to the campaign nor is he an official spokesperson for the campaign. He is free to make whatever comments he wants to about the Clintons and Obama should not have to account for them.
Second, is this not the same Geffen who not only raised $18 million for the Clinton administration, but regularly slept in the Lincoln bedroom (so we're told). Sounds like someone is a little bitter about Geffen leaving the Clinton team.
Last, but certainly not least...Why hasn't Hillary Clinton denounced South Carolina's Senator Robert Ford and rejected his support because of his controversial statement (that he later attempted to clean up) claiming that Obama would bring down the entire Democratic Party because "he's Black"? Instead, she is accepting his endorsement and singing his praises.
