Some of my fondest memories are of traveling and spending time with my grandparents, and this is an amazing gift you can give your grandchildren. Whether you're just driving 100 miles to visit other relatives or traveling cross-country to see the Grand Canyon, traveling with grandchildren can make all of the sites seem fresh and new. Of course, some children are easier to travel with than others, so here are seven tips to make it easier.

Invite Friends
You might want to invite a friend along for the trip if you are traveling alone with your grandchildren. While you love the grandkids, you'll begin to crave adult conversation and having a friend along will give you assistance with keeping track of everything and everyone. If you have only one grandchild, you might want to consider allowing him or her to bring along a friend as well so that they can keep one another occupied when you start feeling worn-out.

Plan the Trip Together
Your vacation with your grandchildren will be much more fun if you plan the trip together. Find out what your grandchildren want to see and where they want to go. You might have a basic itinerary already planned out, but find out which restaurants the kids would enjoy visiting or which museums seem interesting. That way, you'll be able to see what you like and what the grandchildren like.

Check for Discounts
Traveling with grandchildren can really rack up the bills, so look around online for discounts at theme parks, museums and other tourist attractions. You should also pick up brochures and other items at the hotels where you stay because they often contain coupons for major discounts. You might have money put away for the trip, but you'll enjoy yourself more if you aren't worried about pinching pennies.
