Our mothers took care of us at every turn. They bandaged our scraped knees and posted our artwork on the refrigerator. Mother's Day is about showing our mothers how much we appreciate everything they did for us. Here are some gift ideas to give to her for presents this May.

The Classics
There are certain things that just scream 'Mother's Day Present.' Moms love greeting cards; the sappier the better. If you can't think of anything to get her or you just don't have the time, purchase a thoughtful greeting card. Sign it and write a little something extra from your heart. She'll be more than happy to receive it.

Flowers are another classic Mother's Day gift. In fact, Mother's Day is one of the most popular flower-buying seasons next to Valentine's Day. Purchase a bouquet of her favorite flowers to brighten up her day.

If you're mom likes candy, you can't go wrong with a chocolate candy box. Although it's a cliché present, it will still be appreciated by her. And who doesn't like chocolate? After all, it's the thought that counts.

Homemade Gifts
Moms love homemade gifts. It was true when you were a kid and it's true now. Homemade gifts are great for children who want to show their love, or adults that want to give their moms a retro gift.

For kids, making a craft in school is a good idea. If you're in an art class, make her something there. Make her a flower vase in pottery class or a finger painting in painting class. If it's made especially for her, she'll be able to tell, and love it.

If you're all grown up, you can still craft something for your mom. What is your profession or hobby? If you like to write, you could craft a poem for her and apply it to some nice paper with calligraphy. If you write songs, make her one and give her a copy on a disc or cassette. By using your hobbies as a medium, it will show an extra effort.

Hobby Gifts
If you're planning on buying her a regular gift, keep some things in mind. Mother's Day isn't a birthday. Buying her something like a DVD may be inappropriate for the holiday. Instead, think of her hobbies. What does your mom do for fun?

Even though it's cliche, flowers are still an acceptable gift.
