How to Get Rid of Spiders

Spiders are creepy, crawly and while some claim that they are misunderstood, the general public would like them to stay out of their homes. There are a lot of things that can be done to prevent an infestation of spiders and there are also ways to get rid of them once they make themselves at home in a person's house. The most popular way to get rid of spiders is to call an exterminator but if you would like to go the cheap route, here are a few different ways to try to keep out spiders.Keeping outside of the home well lit at night is a great way to discourage a burglar but certain types of light can attract spiders because they attract a spider's favorite food, bugs. Change outside bulbs that use blue light and exchange them with sodium light bulbs. Sodium bulbs use less electricity so they can also save you some money later on.
Another great tip on keeping out spiders and getting rid of them is to keep the place clean. Hang clothes in the closet and keep them off the floor. Large piles of clothes make a warm haven to spiders, especially on cold nights.
When you find and get rid of a spider, check the area that you found the spider to make sure that they did not leave behind any egg sacs. This is especially a good idea if you see a spider crawling out of a closet that has clothes on the floor. Weeks later baby spiders could be crawling all over the place.
Look around the home and find any cracks that a spider could enter through. Depending on the surface, use caulking and other mixtures to seal the holes to keep spiders and other bugs out. If a garden is outside of the house, try using mulch made from cedar bark.
Tight close up any food that sits out on the counters and clean up the kitchen before going to bed. Food will attract bugs such as ants and roaches and these bugs will attract more spiders. Try to keep the home bug free. If there are no bugs to feed a spider then chances are that you will see fewer spiders. Almost all stores have some sort of bug repellent and the internet is a great source of information for finding bug sprays, raids and poisons that a parent or pet owner can use.
