To make this simple Vintage Blue Willow Ware picture frame you will need:

Vintage Blue Willow Ware Plates (or broken pieces)

1 inexpensive wood picture frame

Hot glue

Primer

Paint

Paint Brushes

Sand Paper

Photograph

Grout (optional)

I find great little wooden picture frames at the dollar store, flea markets, yard sales, and even Wal Mart. They are super cheap and perfect to turn into this simple Vintage Blue Willow Ware frame craft project. Try to choose a frame that has a completely flat surface or even a groove for you to set your broken Blue Willow Ware plate pieces into.

So, the first thing I like to do is lightly sand the picture frame. Make sure you take the back off and the glass out.

Wipe off any dust.

Paint on a layer of primer.

Now, once that has dried go ahead and paint your picture frame in any color you like. The whole reason to paint this frame is that you can see it behind the Blue Willow Ware pieces, so you want it to match. If you are going to cover the entire frame in Blue Willow Ware plates, then you do not have to paint or prime.

Once the paint had dried you can start to glue on your Vintage Blue Willow Ware.

You will need to break your Blue Willow Ware pieces into small pieces. You can do this with a hammer and a paper bag. Try to use inexpensive reproduction Blue Willow Ware or pieces of your grandmother's that have broken or been damaged over time.

Now, if you want to grout around your Vintage Blue Willow Ware you will need to use tile adhesive to glue them to the frame. If you do not want to grout then use hot glue.
