How to Use Xtranormal to Make Animation Videos
Xtranormal is an online animation creator. Unlike some of the other online tools, you do not need to know how to draw. You only need to know how to type and click a mouse if you want to use some of their features. So how do you get started?
Xtranormal allows you to make videos without opening an account, but if you do that you cannot save it. So take a few minutes and you get to save the film, and send it to YouTube. Let's get started making your first movie:
On the first page you will be given choices of types of characters, and whether you want 1 or 2 people in the scene. Make your selection and you will come to the canvas to make your creation.
The canvas gives you a quick guide where you pick your scene, your actors, and sounds.
Features: To activate using a feature, you just click and drag to the story board. It it has more than one option, they will pop up and you can choose it.
1. Cameras: This allows you to set the angle you want the camera to shoot.
2. Animations: This is where you can give body language to your characters. You can have hands on the hips, shaking heads, and lots more.
3. Expressions: Sort of over the top gestures. Fun mix.
4. Looks: Only one option here; look into the camera
5. Points: This is hand pointing gestures
6. Pauses: By using this, you dictate when the actors take a pause. They have 2 types of pauses to choose from.
7. Sounds: This is where you can find background foley noises like burps, gagging, and audience reactions to name a few.
8. Magicam: This is the default setting. It basically looks at the script and what you want to do in each scene, and points the camera's automatically.
Now that you are on the canvas page, and have selected your characters, scenes, and sounds, it is time to write your script. The storyboards alternate from person to person, so make sure the right person is saying what you want them to say.
