Oregon offers diverse surroundings to any avid hiker. You only problem when looking for a hike will be to decide which one to go on, and trust me this can be difficult when looking at all of the choices. Oregon has a lot to offer for any hiker. You can choose from the coast range, valley, and the beautiful mountain ranges when hiking in Oregon. If you plan a hike in Oregon don't miss the McKenzie lava flow and George Lake. The volcanic history of the cascades rests here. There are large lava flows around the McKenzie pass that look as if they were just spewed last week. This incredible hike will take you across these jagged flows all the way to their source at Little Belknap Crater. Once you reach the crater you will have amazing views of the Three Sisters mountains; three younger volcanoes. From there you will continue to George Lake. George Lake is a beautiful forest rimmed pool beneath the pinnacle of Mount Washington. This was an ancient volcanic plug that is now extinct. This lava will be rough on your shoes, so wear some heavy duty boots. Dogs are not suggested as well because their paws will rip to shreds on this volcanic rock.
