Anna Nicole Smith Buried Today

The body of Anna Nicole Smith was laid to rest in the Bahamas, today. The former Playboy model was dressed in a beaded pink gown and pink tiara. Her coffin was draped in a pink cloth, with rhinestones spelling out her name and feathers floating down over the sides.

Anna Nicole favorite color, pink was on display in the white columned church. There were pink roses and flower arrangement lining the aisle and adorning the altar. Organizers placed two photos of Anna Nicole on the altar, including one in a shimmering white gown, striking a Marilyn Monroe like pose.

The event was not without drama.

Virgie Arthur, Anna Nicole's estranged mother, made a last ditch attempt to stop the funeral, shortly before the ceremony was scheduled to start. The moved delayed the service for 40 minutes. Virgie Arthur arrived at the funeral late, after having her appeal denied.

The father of Daniel Smith, who reportedly was not a part of his son's life and did not support him, also made a motion to have his son's body exhumed and returned to the United States. The hearing for his motion will take place on March 14.

There were fewer than 100 guests at the service, even though an organizer said that abut 300 had been invited.Rock guitarist Slash, formerly of Guns N' Roses, was one of the guests. Country singer Joe Nichols performed two songs, according to guests. Reportedly Smith's boyfriend, Howard K. Stern had request that the songs: "I'll Wait for You" and Dolly Parton's "on the Wings of a Dove."

After Virgie Arthur arrived in a white stretch limousine ,with her small contingent, she went into the church and the service was allowed to begin.. The white hearse carrying the body on Anna Nicole Smith had made it's ten minute trip from the Nassau airport, where it had been flown to from Florida earlier in the morning.

The hearse opened and a mahogany coffin with a pink blanket decorated with rhinestones and feathers, was carried into the white columned church by pallbearers.
