Segways Are for Lazy People

People get around on artificial limbs. I've seen them. Yet able-bodied people use Segways-the motorized scooter that allows its rider to maintain a standing position-to get around! This is laziness at its best.
I understand that in the case of sightseeing, time can be an issue. When I was in Kona, Hawaii, there simply wasn't enough time to walk everywhere I wanted to go. I didn't see any Segway rental places, but I sure saw a lot of bicycle rental places. So if you need to cover a lot of distance in a limited amount of time, you can do your body good by renting a bicycle. And this will also spare your wallet from having to pay for Segway rental-which is ridiculously high.
The advantage to walking, of course, is that you are not limited as to where you can go. Thus, the time saved using a Segway, as far as covering more mileage, is very much offset by the limitations this device imposes on just where you can go. For instance, if you're stuck with a Segway, you can't readily visit indoor establishments.
And what if many outdoor steps are an obstacle to getting to the lower level of a plaza? A walker can just trot down the steps. The Segway user must fish all over the place for a way to drive the device to the lower level.
I've always believed that people who use Segways are just trying to show off, especially if they own them. It's almost like showing off an expensive car, because maybe these people believe that owning a Segway will make others think they're wealthy.
I just think they're lazy. Like the man who'd bring one of these ridiculous things into the health club. Apparently, he had some kind of condition-I think it was multiple sclerosis. He'd park the thing near the entrance to the men's locker room, then get on the elliptical trainer. And maybe he really did have MS, but if he could use the elliptical machine, he certainly didn't need to hitch a ride on a Segway to get from the gym's front doors to the elliptical trainers! He was clearly showing off.
