Sams No. 3 - Denver's Favorite Diner
Embed:
Sams No. 3 on the corner of 15th and Curtis Street may have an unassuming name and a location off the main downtown drag, but to most residents and visitors in the know, this restaurant is Denver favorite diner. Right away as you take a look inside you will feel transplanted to fifties Denver, and not just a chain places recollection of what the fifties were like. To one side there is an ice cream bar that opens just as the summer heat begins to get to you. On the other side is the main seating area and kitchen behind. You can choose to sit, classic diner style, at one of two three sided, stainless steel bars, or you can sit in a booth or regular table scattered throughout. Whichever way you do it the atmosphere is wonderful and while you wait sports games play on one of the many television screens hanging throughout.
Now to what you really came here for, the food. First though you will have to deal with the sheer size of the menu and the knowledge that, no matter what time of day, breakfast is served. If breakfast does indeed capture your desire, or it is actually breakfast time, the choices are just as varied as the rest of the menu. Everything from a variety of omelets to wonderful French toast to Huevos Rancheros with Sam's signature green chile sauce is on the menu. Also included are Sam's originals like the Naked French Swiss Canadian Melt(or something like that) filled with Swiss cheese and Canadian bacon melted inside two pieces of French toast.
If you've decided on lunch or dinner you will first have to decide if you are in the mood for Mexican, Greek, or American as all three are well represented. As far as Mexican food is concerned the items would make a Taqueria jealous. With a selection of different burritos, tacos, and a wonderful Fajita platter for two, you'll probably be flipping a coin to decide what it is you will be getting.
As far as Greek selection goes the options are more limited, Gyros and other main dishes. Yet most people would agree that simply having Greek at all has already made the menu into an amazing feast of decisions.
