Design Your Life with a Career in Interior Design
The first step is to do your homework. Visit the different professional websites: www.iida.org, and www.asid.org. Both of these have many resources and information about the Industry as a whole, starting your education, and possible applications for Interior Design.
The next thing for you to consider is where do you want to work or ultimately have your business? Is it in your hometown, or somewhere in a different state? If you know the answer to that question, you should seriously consider getting your training in or near that location. School and internships are best utilized if they can provide you a strong network of connections, and even a foot in the door when you are done. While going to school in a location that is considered a design capitol can provide you with incredible experiences and design resources, it can hinder you if it is not where you ultimately want to work. The additional clout gained is sometimes a large price to pay if you don't have the personal resources in your new location to hear about job openings.
