New Hampshire is a small but interesting state nestled in with the other New England states. This state is great to visit if you are interested in a country get-a-way, if you are interested in historical attractions or if you are interested in wildlife adventures. While you are planning your New Hampshire vacation, don't leave out the free attractions that are scattered throughout the state. Four of these free attractions include the Canaan Historical Museum, the Dartmouth College Hood Museum of Art, the Loon Center and the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.

Appalachian National Scenic Trail

The Appalachian Nation Scenic Trail stretches across 2,175 miles of the United States. One of the states that it crosses is New Hampshire. If you are interested in a hiking or biking adventure, then access this trail and get ready for an adventure. You can find access points on the trail's map, which can be downloaded from the National Park System website.

Canaan Historical Museum

The Canaan Historical Museum was founded in 1961 by the Canaan Historical Society. Today it can be found on Canaan Street in Canaan, New Hampshire. The building is located close the Town Beach making it the perfect afternoon stop. Here you will find picture, furniture, antiques and other historical exhibits that will take you back in time.

Dartmouth College - Hood Museum of Art

If you are an art lover then the Dartmouth College - Hood Museum of Art is a great free attraction. It is located on Wheelock Street in Hanover, New Hampshire. It is open to the public Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Here you will find an amazing comprehensive collection of artwork from around the world. The most notable collection is the American artwork collection. This collection contains over 1,500 examples of American drawings and watercolors.
