Are you ready for the 'D' day? I understand the fear, excitement, restlessness you are going through. I know people would be telling you a number of things to keep in mind when you are preparing for an interview. Don't get worried or excited. Just stay calm and composed. Because the more you get worried, you will make a mess of yourself.

I'll tell you a few things to keep in mind, while you are preparing for an interview. First of all keep all your certificates, i.e., the originals ready. You might find it silly if I tell you not to carry all your papers in loose sheets but instead file them accordingly. I know this is pure common sense, but you will not believe it, I have seen people carrying certificates in polythene bags. When you are taking your certificates, do not forget to take the certificates which you have received for your extra-curricular activities as well, be it games, quiz, singing, dancing and others.

The next thing is please do not go for an interview without a proper resume or curriculum vitae. Your curriculum vitae should be short and sweet, which gives an outline about your qualification and qualities.

Another thing which you have to do is to try and get some information about the company you have applied for like the nature of business the company is dealing with, if the company has won any award for its performance, or is recognized for any specific reason. Also keep yourself prepared to justify how you fit into the vacancy available. If you are an experienced candidate, then your job becomes a little tougher, because you have to convince the employer, about your abilities and as to why you left or planning to leave you current employer.

If it is for money, you are leaving your current job, then you have to make the interviewer understand your credibility. Though money is the main criteria, you should put it across in such a way that monetary benefit alone is not your cup of tea.

Takeaways
  • First of all keep all your certificates, i.e., the originals ready.
  • The next thing is please do not go for an interview without a proper resume or curriculum vitae.
  • Be confident. Be straight forward, answer the questions of the interviewer to the point.
