Let Your Hearts Be Still
Poetry from My Heart
There was a battle raging around
Then suddenly all was quiet
A soldier laid on the ground
He listened , but heard no noise
Wondering how can this be
For he still saw his comrades
Fighting there mightily
He saw his friends run toward him
They had something in their hands
They lifted him to a stretcher
And took him from that land
He spoke to his comrades in arms
But they did not hear him say
Please let me up so I can help
Finish this battle today
But then a light came shining down
And an angel spoke from above
Come my son, you've finished the fight
Be wrapped in God's sweet love
He looked into the angel's face
The answer was so clear
Yes, my job on earth is done
But my spirit will linger here
He thought about his family
And hoped they would understand
That he became a chosen one
In that far and distant land
He asked the angel, will they be alright
Will you please watch over them
And give them the peace they will need
To help their broken lives to mend
The angel smiled and took his hand
And said, be not afraid my friend
For though you'll be in heaven
You can still watch over them
For when you leave the world below
And your life in heaven starts
You are still forever with them
Living deep within their hearts
So the soldier walked through heaven's gates
And looked into the loving face of God
And the sweetest peace came over him
Nevermore into battle will I trod
And as he took hold of the Lord's hand
He sent a message back home
Let your hearts be still, for I am safe
Never again to roam
