The popularity of poker has soared in recent years. Several years ago, it was highly unlikely that you could turn on the television and watch a game of poker. Nowadays it seems like every time I click by ESPN, the World Series Of Poker is being televised. It has become a national sport and high-profile sponsorship has come in to play. Harrah's, which is a large casino gambling destination, has become the primary sponsor for the World Series Of Poker. Because of this poker craze, fans everywhere flock to the TV to watch those events. ESPN televised the World Series Of Poker every Tuesday from July 19th to November 15th. It all started of with the Circuit Championships, which were held up until August 16. On August 23rd they played the No Limit Hold 'Em. From August 23rd until October 4th, they rotated between No Limit Hold 'Em, Pot Limit Hold 'Em, and Seven Card Stud. What they consider the Main Event started October 11th and last until November 15th.
The World Series Of Poker was not aired live. The competitors actually started playing back on January 16th up until July 15th. Most of the events were held at the Rio Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. The Harrah's Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ held the event, which was aired on July 26th. The Harrah's Rincon Casino & Resort in San Diego held the event, which aired on August 2nd. Harvey's Lake Tahoe held the event, which aired on August 9th. The final Circuit Championship event was held at Harrah's New Orleans, which aired on August 16th. The World Series Of Poker proved that not only is the game itself addicting, but watching on television can be addicting as well.
