A person with a college degree or yuppie job is not necessarily more intelligent than a person with no post-highschool education. I've met plenty of idiots who had college degrees.

Dave is one of them. He's also in upper management for a Fortune 500 company-might even be a Fortune 100 company-and he makes a lot of money. However, in his personal life, he could make some pretty dumb decisions. For instance, when his son Mark was 8, they were on vacation. Dave's wife ordered up some hamburgers at some grill, and Mark requested that his burger have no catsup.

The burger ended up with catsup because the cook automatically puts it on when he prepares the orders. Mark was very upset because he hated catsup. Both his parents insisted that he eat the burger, even though the 8-year-old was on the verge of crying. It didn't occur to Dave to take the blasted bun and scrape off the catsup with a plastic utensil. I finally suggested this, and his parents were reluctant to do this, but finally did it. But you can scrape off only so much catsup.

Would Dave eat anything that he didn't like? Of course not. Would his college-degreed wife? Of course not. So why should they force their kid to eat something he doesn't like (other than green vegetables!)? The college-degreed wife wasn't smart enough to make sure the cook didn't put catsup on the burger. And when she realized it had catsup, she didn't tell the cook to replace the bun.

With all the money Dave made, he kept bringing up the issue that Mark was not going to waste the burger by not eating it. These burgers were gigantic, and Mark's 5-year-old sister couldn't even get through half of hers. These college-educated parents ordered a giant, expensive hamburger for EACH of their very young children-who had a history of small appetites! This whole hoopla could have easily been avoided, and easily remedied by allowing Mark to eat just the beef. Some intelligence on this yuppie corporate climber and his ding-dong wife.
