The time is here. The time when musicians, artists, bloggers, tech geeks, film folks, other creative types, industry big-wigs, and plain old audiophiles flock to Austin, TX for nine days of networking and partying.

This city-wide conference can be overwhelming, whether you have attended many times or if this is your first year.

Here are a few basic tips to help you make the most of your SXSW experience.

Network! : SXSW is great for networking. Don't be afraid to introduce yourself to who you are standing next to you, or the intriguing person who catches your eye from across the room. There is no such thing as too many connections. Carrying a business card with up-to-date contact information is something I suggest. Business cards are especially helpful during loud events; trying to explain that you are a blogger and not a logger over the sound of crashing drums and wailing guitars can get old after a while, no matter the comedic value it might have initially.

Accept that there is always another place you could be. : So much is happening that it is almost guaranteed that while one of your favorite bands is playing, another band you are interested in seeing will be playing at the same time in another venue across town. Choose wisely, my friend. And once you are at the show of your choice, relax! If you spend your time thinking about how you wish you were in both places, you will miss out on the full experience

Drink plenty of water and do not forget to eat. : It might sound basic, but forgetting to eat and drink enough water is easy to do when you are distracted by all the goings on. I suggest carrying your own water bottle. As for food, if able, carry a couple of granola bars or another similar easy to carry snack food with you in case of emergency munchies or blood sugar drops. When it comes to meal times, I suggesting eating local and avoiding chains, and I also warn you to expect to wait. This is another situation where the snacks come in handy.
