Awards Shows Don't Appreciate True Artists
How Deserving Artists Get Cheated at Awards Shows.

At the beginning of each year, a slew of awards shows come on around the same time. Actors, actresses and music artists that have been nominated begin to boil with anticipation, hoping they will finally win an award. The time comes around and the grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance comes around. Its either Beyonce, Mariah Carey, India.Arie, Natalie Cole or Mary J. Blige. "And the Grammy goes to..." Mary J. Blige? Yes, Mary J. Blige. MJB. She also won Best R&B Song for "Be Without You" over Prince's "Black Sweat" and India.Arie's "I Am Not My Hair," whom she also beat for best R&B album. Not to say that there is anything wrong with Mary, but come on people! Prince?! India.Arie?! These people deserve albums for quality work! Yes, they may not be as popular as MJB, but they are a lot more qualified to win a Grammy. I understand that Mary has never won one, but isn't there a reason for that? Why all of a sudden does she get a Grammy when, vocally, she is at her absolute worst?
Don't argue with me people. You know it, I know it, we all know it. Mary is tapped out. She should retire while people generally think she can still sing. I have to mute her live performances because I just can't take her screaming at the top of her lungs at the end of her song "Be Without You." Speaking of that song, it didn't deserve that Grammy. Yes, its a catchy song, but how many songs have we heard about needing to be with someone? India.Arie's song was creative and new. It stated that yes, I have hair but that is not all I am. Hair does not determine who you are. A great, positive message as opposed to whining about how you need someone who is already in your life.
