Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano may be the first Obama cabinet secretary to have to resign in disgrace. So far it is only the House Republicans who are demanding that Secretary Napolitano go, but that is how it starts.
The first indication that Janet Napolitano might not be a good fit for Homeland Security was when her department drew up an "intelligence analysis" on what DHS considered the main terrorist threat to the American homeland. The main threat was not, after all, Islamo Fascists, but rather "rightwing extremists" and especially military veterans who would be most susceptible to their blandishments.
Then, in an interview with CNN, Secretary Napolitano not only demonstrated that she did not know the difference between civil and criminal law, but actually suggested that illegal immigration was not a crime. Section 1325 of the United States Code would tend to contradict Janet Napolitano.
Finally, Janet Napolitano insulted the country of Canada by falsely suggesting that the 9/11 hijackers crossed over to the United States from Canada. In fact the 9/11 hijackers flew directing to the United States, thanks largely to lax enforcement at our consulates in Saudi Arabia and were able to stay thanks to a failure of interior enforcement of American immigration law.
General incompetence does not necessarily cause a cabinet secretary to have to resign. Another Janet, Bill Clinton's Attorney General Janet Reno, was able to remain at her post despite her blundering that resulted in the mass slaughter of Branch Davidians, including children, in Waco sixteen years ago. That incompetence manifested itself years later during the sordid and shocking Elian Gonzalez affair when a Cuban refugee boy was plucked at gun point from his relatives' home to be hustled off to that island paradise of Cuba. Not only did Janet Reno, with the help of the current AG Eric Holder, do this thing, but a press photographer recorded it being done.
Bill Clinton was able to skate responsibility for Waco by referring every question to Janet Reno. Having an official scape goat can have its uses.

Did you check out Napolitano's latest whitewash today? She went on TV to lie to everyone that the Christmas Bomber was unconnected and unaffiliated and that flying was commpletely safe and how security was up to snuff and la-di-dah and how there were not mistakes in letting a guy with PETN on a plane after buying a one way ticket with cash and no luggage.... She's the worst...

That report was correct. Right wing extremists are a threat. They have killed many in the past and will probably attempt it again. It would be irresponsible not to try to stop them.

Go, Janet, Go! Go far, far away. Leave important matters such as the security of our country to those who have brains and guts.
I grew up with a guy that works in Homeland and I have to tell you, I feel sorry for him. She's too weak, too off the cuff in meaning which got her in the trouble in the first place. Good piece.

Actually, contrary to the assertions of this article, the first time that it because obvious that Nappy was not fit for the job was the first time she testified before Congress and failed to mention terrorism. She later tried to spin her discussion of "man caused disaster" as the same thing. She is a dolt. She was terrible in Arizona too.
If she had any integrity at all she would have resigned right after the kerfuffle began. She's a worthless political hack.

When this old bat of questionable morals was governor of Arizona the illegal alien-infested state capitol became the kidnapping capitol of America. She actually vetoed a bill that would have made sure invaders couldn't vote. She's a member of the rabidly anti-American CFR (as is the latest NWO puppet in the White House) and isn't opposed to illegal immigration. Do you feel safe with a globalist pig like that overseeing border security? Not I! Of course she's probably no worse than other scum Cap'n Kenya has appointed (i.e. Tan Klan hack Cecilia Munoz, pro-invader MEChA alumni Hilda Solis, notorious crook Tim Geithner, and a host of others). We are in serious trouble.

First, the report was ordered and most of the work on it was done before Obama became president. Second, I foget his name, but the hijacker who didn't make it to the plane did indeed come over the Canadian border. Third, Napolitano has been both a US Attorney and a state Attorney General, and was involved in the prosecution of Timothy McVeigh. I tend to think she knows a bit about right wing militias and immigration law. Finally, the report simply said that returning vets who do not get the help they need adjusting back to civilian life, may be recruited by militia groups, and their knowledge of warfare would add to the danger from these groups. The best way to avoid this is to give our vets what they deserve, including the correct diagnosis and treatment when they need it. The report did not say veterans were the greatest threat to national security.
