Wasted Pixels

A Ridiculous Expression of Rebellion

The poem pretty much speaks for itself, yet the publisher requires that a have something written in the introduction so these is it. Poking fun at an institution is a risky pastime of mine. We will see if I get penalized. Here then lies Wasted Pixels.

Wasted Pixels

I thought I might
end my night
with a challenge;
write a poem on
a chosen topic -
after all, national poetry
month is drawing
to a close.

I thought, long
and hard I thought.
Then disgusted, I gave
up. Who wants
to hear of Juliet
of the Spirits?

Or, I suppose I
could write of the
way the blood rises and
pulse quickens to
The Ride of
The Valkyries - Apocalypse
Now.

No, I shook my head, who
would want to waste
precious electrons gathered
in precisely ordered patterns
to hear
of my favorite movie.

Like some dry and bored
school marm handing
down a lesson no
one has interest in, that
was the day's challenge;

"Write a short
poem about
your favorite movie."

Not many I think
have heard of some
movies I watch - others,
upon hearing would no doubt
recoil revolted - No,
my Favorites
remain mine.

Instead, I give
this ridiculous expression of rebellion
- and wasted pixels.
