In this life, we are sometimes dealt hands which leave us thirsty for inspiration. Though there are many things that give us that extra boost, there are some things that take us on a road we have never before traveled. About a week ago, I picked up a text and found that; in my 29 years of roaming the earth, my life had never truly begun.

Not too long ago, I was in a very bad place. I felt as if nothing good ever really happened to me and I was never going to accomplish the things I'd always dreamt of accomplishing. I had overlooked how far I'd already come and was, now, feeling sorry for myself. My deteriorating attitude began spilling into every aspect of my life. I was a sad case when dealing with my family, friends and clients. In addition, my work ethic was beginning to sour; because I was embracing that "why me" attitude.

One particular work day, an employee noticed that I wasn't my usual jovial self and blessed me with a gift card to Barnes & Noble. I had no idea that receiving that simple yet thoughtful gift would lead to my awakening. For weeks, that gift card remained in my wallet. For days on end, I continued in my rut. Then, one day, I was surfing the internet and decided to use my gift. I ordered Joel Osteen's bestseller Your Best Life Now. Because I was familiar with Joel Osteen's awesome messages, I was very excited; when my book arrived.

I can tell you that the preface got my mind to turning like never before. I wasn't a few pages in before I felt my happiness returning to my joy deprived body. I have read many books in my time but have found Osteen's book to be one of the most life-changing text's I've ever read. I never would have thought that it would have had such an amazing impact on me. I felt life seep into my pores like winters cold embrace. I began viewing my situation in a different light. I realized that not being in the position I wanted to be did not take away from me getting as far as I had. In addition, I became increasingly aware of the fact that my happiness relied on me. I asked myself, why look for others to make you happy; when you aren't happy with yourself?
