Second only to Axl's tribute act has a band offered more "definite maybe's" than Van Halen in recent years. The message boards are buzzing with suspicions, opinions and predictions as to what exactly Van Halen is doing about anything.

Brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen maintain seclusion in their Van Halen bubble. It's about 4 billion miles away from reality. Back on earth, former bassist Michael Anthony and former vocalist Sammy Hagar are still performing and enjoying life.

Hagar, who co-owns a Pro Series Indy car, served as the Grand Marshal of February 24th for the NASCAR Busch Series Stater Brothers 300 race in California. He and Anthony also performed together during the pre-race ceremonies on February 25th at the NASCAR Auto Club 500. They, along with Hagar's band The Waboritas, performed his classic tune, "I Can't Drive 55".

Anthony also has his own line of hot sauces, Mad Anthony's, while Hagar promotes Cabo Wabo, his brand of tequila and nightclub.

David Lee Roth had that god-awful radio show after replacing Howard Stern in 2006. We can all be thankful it didn't last long. It's doubtful that Roth is upset- he still made millions in the deal.

A tour was supposedly being planned and rehearsed for. In the March 2007 issue of Rolling Stone, Roth said that a 40-date amphitheater tour was being booked. Unfortunately that bit of news has already been squashed. The tour's been canceled.

Dave was also very savvy in skirting the "why isn't Michael Anthony in the band anymore" question. He'd been replaced by Eddies 16-year old son, Wolfgang.

"This was something that was said and done long before I got to the studio. Thank God the kid is great, huh? I guess it's either in the blood or it's not."

Eddie and Alex, in a separate interview, said "I don't know exactly what happened. Anthony and Hagar started their own band. You can't be in two bands. I don't know how else to explain it. Help me out here. I thought it was simple- they didn't show up, so Wolfie showed up. Boom." They continued by lobbing suggestive insults at Anthony's performance ability. That was a total dick move.

Those 5 men must have some real issues if they can't even get it together long enough to attend, much less than perform, at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Scott Weiland is not a worthy alternative to Roth or Hagar. It's too bad an awesome band just can't get it together.

Sammy's last album sold 57,000 copies. VH3, which we all admit sucked, sold 500,000+. You can type your opinions all you want. I'm just not thrilled with any millionaire, including Mike Anthony, sitting in a mansion, bitching to interviewers about how bad they have it financially. Selling booze and ketchup isn't "still out there living life," it is gotta' make money somehow, and noone will by my records anymore. Even with all the griping we've all done, there was more excitement on the web about a possible VH reunion than in anything "the other half" has done in the last decade. That says alot about VH's place in history. They've done this for 35 years. IMO they can retire and play golf now, if they want to. They've given me a hell of alot of happiness with their music.

I never expect anything logical to ever come from them anymore.

What the hell did you work so hard all these years for, Ed? You said in an interview in 1986 while doing the MTV hour long VH rocumentary with new guy Sammy, 'that even if you were 80 years old and sittin' on a stool, you'd still be makin' music.' Well where the hell is it? You two act like you're ashamed of everything you've ever done that made you famous? You better face reality guys...you are running out of time, and fast. Those of us that have hung on for so long, you're most die hard fans that bought every record, cd, dvd, tape, t-shirt, poster & the occasional tatoo are ready to let go! Not that you even give a shit...
