Make Grass Head People with Your Kids

If you are looking for a good project to do with your kids you may want to try to make grass head people. Grass Head People are fun to make and grow. Making Grass head People can teach your kids about growing plants from seeds while making something fun. Grass Head People are heads made of saw dust and grass seeds. When the grass seeds sprout it is on top of the head and looks like green hair.

To make a Grass Head Person you will need an old nylon or stocking and some sawdust and grass seeds. Take the nylon and put a tablespoon of grass seeds into the toe of the nylon. Make sure the seeds are spread out some so they are not piled up on each other and they are covering the inside of the toe of the nylon. Then take saw dust and fill up the toe of the nylon until it is the size of a baseball. Keep the grass seed against the nylon so the grass seed is touching the nylon.

Tie the nylon where in a big knot as close to the saw dust as you can making a ball. Cut off some of the excess nylon about an inch from the knot. You now should have a ball made of nylon sawdust and grass seed. Take the ball and soak it in water until the ball is saturated with water. Place the ball in a bowl of water so it stays wet.

You can decorate your saw dust ball so it looks like a face. You can use thumb tacks for eyes and a nose. A piece of red yarn can be made into a mouth for your saw dust ball. You can get creative and made eye brows and a chin for your Grass Head person. You can make your Grass Head look like any face you want with a little creativity.

After the grass starts to grow on your Grass Head person you can take a scissors and cut the grass like hair. Then you can get even more creative with new haircuts as the grass grows. You can give you Grass Head Person a crew cut or a mow hawk. If you want to make a Grass head Man you could put some grass seed where the Grass Heads chin would be to make a beard.

It is fun to watch the grass seeds grow and it is fun to cut the Grass Head persons hair when it starts to grow.
