Americans are relocating at a rate exceeding 46 million households a year, according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau. However, individuals 65 and older prefer to stay put, the bureau reports. Less than 6 percent of this age group changes their geographic location. In addition, more than half of these senior citizens reside in nine states, including Texas, which has more than a million.

The last time it snowed was in 1987. January temperatures are usually in the 50s and summers average about 90 degrees.
