Have you ever stood in line at the supermarket, browsing the selection of magazines? If you have, then you've probably noticed the numerous amount of magazines bombarding you with bold titles such as: Lose up to ten pounds in two days, or Drop a whole dress size in 36 hours, or rev up your your fat burning potential with this magic herb. Some of you are probably thinking, 'Wow, that sounds really good', so what do you do? You buy the magazine. You buy the magazines again and again, week after week, hoping that melting those pounds off will be quick and easy. What do you have to show for this? A drawer full of magazines and a hole in your pocket.Weekly diet magazines are good for the magazine company and bad for you. The company wants you to keep buying their magazine every week, so they keep cranking out new diets, and putting spins on old ones, week after week. They are making a hefty profit at your expense, because they know something about you. They know that you are impatient and lazy. You want instantaneous results with little or no effort involved. Ever notice how the magazines almost always center on a diet and not exercise? That's because they know you won't buy something that actually requires consistent work.
So, you bought the magazine, and you start the new diet plan. Halfway through the week you start to lose steam. The diet is either too restrictive, you don't like the foods, or you don't think you are seeing results fast enough. So what do you do? You give up and wait until a new week comes to start yet another diet. Meanwhile, you are left disappointed, frustrated, and deprived, so you reach for that comfort food and pack on more pounds. The vicious cycle continues.
Break the addiction. Get real and realize that in order to achieve your goals that means hard work, effort, and planning. Throw out your old mentality, that quicker is better. Don't think about losing twenty pounds in one week, for that is unhealthy. You will be losing needed water and muscle mass, not fat. Remember the tortoise and the hare, slow and steady wins the race. Successful weight loss is one to two pounds per week.
