Cincinnati, like many other American cities, has experienced an explosion of interest in Asian cuisine. Gone are the days when we all had to suffer through packaged, soggy Chinese egg rolls and chop suey as our only access to any semblance of Asian cooking. The city today has some incredible choices for diners who have become enamoured of fresh, authentic Asian and Asian-fusion delicacies from that entire region.

Mei has been in operation since 2000 with a 30-table capacity and 3 private tatami rooms. They serve lunch and dinner, with Friday service available up untl 10:30.
What's nice here is the dinner combos and the availability of sushi dinners. Broiled cutlets and Broiled freshwater Barbecue eel, which I've never seen on any other menu. Their shrimp tempura dinner has a huge helping of vegetables that sound delightful: pumpkin, lotus root, green pepper, sweet potato, and eggplant. The combo dinners all come with soup, salad and rice. The eel dinner is just $15.75. Seafood items predominate here with an incredible array of fish, shrimp, squid, eel, and crab dishes. What's really neat for customers is that if they find they just love the dishes they've eaten here, Mei also has its own grocery next door. Go in there and just spend an afternoon wandering the isles or looking over their fresh seafood and their canned, bottled and dried items. It's open 7 days but closes at 6:00 on Sundays. Definitely call to see if reservations are necessary before making plans.
