Pat White Quarterback or Receiver
Miami Dolphins Find a Gem
Pat White of West Virginia University went drafted in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft to the Miami Dolphins with the 44th pick overall. Pat White wants to be a quarterback at the NFL level, but many doubter's say he doesn't have the size. Pat is out to prove those doubter's wrong again since his collegiate days when everyone said he couldn't be a quarterback.Pat White came to West Virginia as a quarterback where every other team wanted him as a wide receiver. He originally committed to LSU Tigers, but had second thoughts because West Virginia was going to give him a shot at quarterback. Pat was an immediate all-star at WV and left the school breaking WV and NCAA records as nobody has in quite awhile. All I can say is thank you because we had a remarkable four year run with Pat White leading the offense.
Pat White is a quarterback that has heart so size is just a number. He can play quarterback in the NFL if he is given the chance. When the lights are on Pat becomes a different person on the football field. He takes the leadership role and moves the offense. Pat White is the only quarterback in college to win four consecutive bowl games. His passing in the 2009 bowl game against North Carolina sealed the deal and he proved to the world that he can step up in the pocket and deliver the ball to his receivers.
The Miami Dolphins have themselves a gem because Pat White gives them versatility to be used as a quarterback with speed or line up as a receiver in a slot formation to create with his legs. Pat White will probably see time as a kick returner as well. The versatility of White will give the Dolphins more options and expand their playbook. This should allow them to stretch the field with the defense and allow them to put more points on the scoreboard.
Pat White excelled at the combines and outperformed every other quarterback in just about all stats. However, based on his size some scouts felt like he couldn't be an every down quarterback. Some teams wanted him to work out as wide receiver which he didn't because he said I want to be a quarterback.
