Tag sales can be a lot of fun, and a great way for a family to raise a little extra money. This extra money can be put towards a family night at the movies, or a day at the amusement park - or some other fun entertainment that your family enjoys. If you are holding a tag sale, there are ways that your kids can participate and have a good time helping out. They can sell items of their own, or they can help out getting other items ready for the sale and help out the day of the sale. By giving them a little project of their own, they get to participate in the day and feel like they are part of the effort. It is important to give them something that is age appropriate and not too overwhelming. Better to give a kid a smaller task for one year's tag sale and have that go very well, than to give a kid a large task and have a kid feel overwhelmed because it was too much to accomplish. One of the benefits of selling items of their own, or by helping sell family items is that they learn about earning money and they might then have a little money of their own to save or buy a special treat. You as a family can decide what you will do with the money raised from the tag sale, but it is nice to let the kids decide what they will do with the money they raise from the tag sale, this teaches them to set a goal and achieve it. Here are some ideas for how your kid can get involved in this year's tag sale:
Sell lemonade and/or cookies. This is an easy thing for most kids to do. Though it may involve some help from Mom and Dad in terms of set up and organization. Younger kids may need some help making lemonade or getting cookies from the grocery store. You will need a pitcher, paper cups, some change to get them started, napkins for cookies and poster board for signs.
Sell toys. Most kids will probably admit that they have some toys they have outgrown. If they select the toys they want to sell and then Mom and Dad help them price items for the sale, this could be a terrific project. The kids may also need to clean items and help store them in the garage before the sale. They will also need to help set up before the sale. Older kids can also be put in charge of helping younger kids with this project at your discretion.
