In a recent episode of PotterCast, an extremely popular podcast produced by the The Leak Cauldron Harry Potter fan site it was announced that a Harry Potter fandome book was to be written.

The announcement was made by the book's author and the woman behind The Leaky Cauldron website, Melissa Anelli. Immediately after the announcement Ms. Anelli went on to express her joy in finally being able to tell the Harry Potter fandom about the book. Ms Anelli has been working up to this announcement for one year and did well to keep it a secret until this announcement on PotterCast episode 78. Because she is superstitious Ms. Anelli did not want to say anything about the book until she was absolutely sure it would be published.

Ms. Anelli expressed her joy, fear and nervous excitement at being able to have this wonderful opportunity to capture the unique Harry Potter phenomenon that thousands of people of all ages around the world are part of. She mentioned her hopes of producing a good book. Though anyone in the Harry Potter fandom would be sure she would. In fact Ms. Anelli is one of the best people to be chosen for the honour of recording the Harry Potter phenomenon. Ms Anelli works tirelessly doing all things Harry Potter whether it be working on new ideas to make The Leaky Cauldron website the best Harry Potter site in the world, updating the site, being the first to report Harry Potter news and taking part in weekly PotterCasts.

Because of her efforts in that Harry Potter fandom Ms. Anelli has earned a number of wonderful privileges that Harry Potter fans around the world would love to have. Ms. Anelli has been invited to the sets of the Harry Potter films, met the films actors, gone to film premieres and fulfilled the dream of meeting and interviewing JK Rowling in person. With each privilege Ms. Anelli always faithfully and to the best of her ability reports all of her visits and interviews back to the Harry Potter fandom via The Leaky Cauldrom website and PotterCasts.

JKR wouldn't sue her, but probably won't officially endorse it either.

the interview you are refering to Sally is something completely different, Melissa says in her announcement that she has been in touch with JKR about the fandom book. Melissa would not do it if JKR didn't approve of it. Plus Melissa's book is about the fandom, everything like the websites, music, conferences etc, it is unlikely she would want to quote the books.

Anelli's interview with JKR was for HP6, not her own book. Rowling sues anyone who tries to write about the series. She also does not give permission to quote from the books to other authors. This is a well-known, though sad, fact in the literature world. Sigh.

Why would JKR sure her? Melissa is on good terms with JKR and has even been in contact with her about the book, as mentioned in the article

I bet JKR sues her. She hates anyone else to write about her little "baby," Harry.

I don't think Melissa would lower herself to the point of copying someone else especially mugglenet since she is friends with them. She is putting alot of effort into this even touring with Harry and the Potters to get good material. She is a writer and this a great opportunity for her career why would she damage it by copying something.

It's actually not a copy at all. MN's book is a cheap discussion of theories that can be easily found online, and of which there are better ones online. This is the documentation of a phenomenon. Don't knock Melissa's effort with such insulting speak as to compare it to that junk.

it's kind of a copy of mugglenet's book.........acutally it is a copy not kind of.
