Belize is a beautiful country that should be seen more than just through a car or bus window. But when cities are hours apart on dirt roads, you just can't ride a rented bicycle through the country. There are several options to getting around Belize, each with it's own price and with it's own pros and cons. Whether you choose to take a taxi, the bus, a tour guide vehicle, or to rent a car, make sure you pick based on knowledge rather than limit of knowledge. How you travel will determine how much time you have to enjoy activites, where you can go, and what you can do during your stay in Belize. Taxis in Belize are abundant in the major cities and around the airports. Whether getting off a plane at the International airport or the Domestic airport, you will find a taxi driver waiting for you. Major attractions, store parking lots, and driving beside walking tourists are all great places to find a taxi. There are even taxi drivers waiting at bus stops and depots to whisk you away. Why are there so many taxi drivers wanting your business? If you own a car in Belize, which isn't a high percentage, you will most likely need to find some way to pay it off.
