Outraged by the recent events involving Antonella Barba, Rosie called the hit television show American Idol 'weightist and racist'. The reason behind her comment?
She does not think it is fair that in Frenchie Davis, the overweight African-American singer who appeared on Season 2 of American Idol, was immediately removed from the competition due to photographs of her posing topless appear on the internet. However, with photographs of Antonella Barba preforming sexual acts as well as posing in questionable positions around a state monument dominating the internet, American Idol has decided to keep her in the competition.
Rosie feels the difference is not in the photographs, but the people in them.
The differences, you ask?
According to Rosie, Davis is overweight and an African-American.
Barba is not.
Since joining 'The View', Rosie has not held back her feelings regarding hot topics in the news.
Her first controversy was regarding gun control. On April 19, 1999, Rosie stated on her talk show, "You are not allowed to own a gun, and if you do own a gun, I think you should go to prison." Continuing her fight for gun control, she confronted actor Tom Selleck in regards to his opinions on guns and his involvement with the National Rifle Association (NRA).
However, her most famous controversy involved billionaire Donald Trump.
Rosie was angry about Trump allowing Miss USA Tara Conner to keep her title despite violating pageant guidelines. Conner was photographed conducting lewd acts as well as partying and drinking. When the photographs surfaced, Trump called a press conference. During the conference, Trump stated that "everyone deserves a second chance".
On December 20, 2006, Rosie shared her opinions on the situation during 'The View', which Trump responded to by going on various media and blasting Rosie.
