I recently tried out a diet, reccomended by my doctor. These are my results, the second installment of a two-part series. To read about the Sacred Heart Diet and how I prepared for this seven day eating plan, click here.

First, a review of the soup:
When I first tasted the soup, it was probably too hot for me to really savor it. When I had my first real bowl, I was highly impressed. I did add two packets of the soup flavoring, although the recipe called for one. It was just fabulous! I will definitely be making this recipe again just to have on had. Very yummy.

So, let's get down to business. Here is a recap of my seven days on the Sacred Heart Diet plan.

Day One of the Sacred Heart Weight Loss Plan:
I started the morning with a small bowl of the soup and black coffee. The black coffee took a little while to get used to, but I likened it to drinking a dark beer. It worked. Later on in the day, I had another black coffee. I also drank two bottles of water while at work, and a glass of apple juice when I got home, and also two more cups of black coffee.

During the day since it is fruit day, I snacked on three slices of cantaloupe, a plum and a small bunch of grapes. I was pretty darn hungry by the time I arrived home. I should have brought soup with me for lunch as well. I had a small bowl of the soup for dinner and two slices of cantaloupe.

How I feel: It's strange. I did feel like I had more energy. I did some arm weights and push-ups when I got home, as well as the dishes. Perhaps some of the regular foods I eat make me sluggish.

Celery. You eat a lot of it on this diet.

Several coworkers and I tried this diet in fall of '07. We had male and female participants. What we found was that EVERYONE lost weight!! Those who did not cheat and DID exercise lost the most. Even those who cheated and did not exercise lost some weight. Men typically lose more than women... it's a genetic thing. I agree the soup starts out delicious but gets kinda "old" and "boring" by the end of the week. At the end of the week if you return to your old eating habits and stop the exercise, yes... the weight will come back. But,that's how it got there in the first place!!!! The keys to succeeding on thsi diet are planning (take your food with you!), exercise, plenty of water, and commitment. (Try freezing single servings of soup to go..... by the time you're hungry they'll be thawed and ready to heat-n-eat)

I just started 2 days ago and I feel great!! I haven't weighed myself but i know i lost at least 2 pounds. so im excited about it!! I'm just a little scared that when I get off the diet I am going to gain it back. I don't know if it is just water that I'm going to lose or is it actually some fat. Oh well.. I will see the results.

I haven't started the diet yet but was just reading up on it. I was wondering if you can have salad dressing? Does anyone know if I can add a little olive oil and vinegar on to my salads??? It sounds like a great diet.

My husband and I just started this today, and so far so good! I did not know much about which spices to add into the soup, so instead of using plain stewed tomatoes, I used Mexican Style stewed tomatoes. The soup is awesome! It is a little bit on the spicy side (then again, I can not even really eat mild salsa without it burning my tounge) but it is so good! JENNIFER- That tip about the bananas is going to be a lifesaver for me, because I can not even smell a banana without feeling sick!

Katie- that means so much that this inspired you and your mom. I have a job that has free snacks and I've gained some weight- thinking of going back on this diet again!!

Your story inspired my mother and myself to try it (starting monday) and record day-by-day to post it on youtube or something...I did have a question though. Since you completed the diet have you had any major issues with gaining it back? Thanks for sharing with your story with us and congratulations on making it through the week!

Hi I did this diet three weeks ago and I lost 9 pounds! I only did the diet for 6 days! Over Thanksgiving I gained about 3 pounds but I did eat a lot more food than on a usual day. I started the diet again yesterday and I am hoping to losse another 9 pounds! It's a great way to keep from gaining too many holiday pounds!!!!

my husband was on this diet last week for the first time. He has lost 22 lbs and 5 inches off of his waist. it works but you need to make it a way of life now. He has been off of it now for 2 days like it says because he lost more then 17 lbs and he is still doing the soup, veggies every day but eating 1 normal meal.
