In the learning of the African history, attribute modernization to outside beginning and influences has been very common. From time to time developments are said to be the exertion of people who came from outside Africa, even as other changes are credited to Africans from other regions. The growth of states institution which creates national government, implement political authority through system of government and armies, and amalgamate territories into unified economic systems - is one of the aspects of African olden times which has often been explained in this way. Writers have frequently claimed, the idea of the state first urbanized in Africa among Egyptians during the era of the pharaohs, and thereafter spread to the rest of Africa. Since these explanations stay influential, historians have been chiefly interested in what might be called the "pre-history" of

African states, that is, the developments which led African societies to create centralized political systems.
Historians and archaeologists have learned a great deal about the developments which preceded the emergence of states in Africa. They can now say with self-assurance that in most cases, Africans urbanized states in retort to local circumstances and opportunities. Hardly ever dispersion of ideas from far-away sources seems to have been important in bringing about the structure of a state. Nowadays historians do not think that the history of African states is a story of the increase of influences from Egypt, Europe or Asia into the rest of Africa. In its place, the story they see involves African people living in a great diversity of locations who use their political skills and wisdom to create for themselves centralized systems of government.
