Have you ever wondered why Asians love Hello Kitty?

Well, I don't know. And Kim Wong Keltner didn't answer the question, either.

But, I do think this is a cute book. Or maybe that's not the exact word I'm looking for... let me explain.

The back cover includes the following:

Have you every wondered:
- Why Asians love Hello Kitty?
- What the tattooed Chinese characters really say?
- How to achieve feng shui for optimum make-out sessions?
- Where Asian cuties meet the white guys who love them?
Then you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll realize this book is better than a Broadwar production of Cats when you read scenes that include:
- twenty-something Lindsey Owyang mastering the intricacies of office voicemail and fax dialing
- an authentic Chinese banquet where Number One Son shows of his language skills by speaking "Chinglish"
- dating disasters with grandsons of Grandma's mahjong partners
- the discovery that the real China looks nothing like the pavilion at Disney World

Well, first of all, none of those questions were really answered in the book, and I do think it was a little exaggerated. I did laugh, but I didn't cry. I haven't seen a live performance of Cats, but I've enjoying watching musicals on TV better than this book. And I think we all already know that the real China looks nothing like the way Mulan Disney animators portray it to be. Sheesh.

However, this is definitely a funny book. My mom picked it up at a used book store and gave it to me. She thought the back cover was quite witty and told me that after I read it, she wants to know why Asians really like "Hello Kitty" (because I'm one of those Asians that have spent more than enough money on Hello Kitty related products, hahaha). Boy, I was in for a ride!

I am SO going to have to read this...I work in an international airport, and I absolutely adore the nonchalant flamboyance that Japanese women radiate....and the Hello Kitty has been a mystery of old for me..
