Blessings in a box is a great way to describe Angel Food Ministries. This non-profit organization presents the opportunity for individuals and families to purchase high-quality food at bargain prices.

Angel Food Ministries is a Christian-based organization that offers relief to people in 32 states across the U.S., from the high cost of groceries. Each month, Angel Food Ministries provides this service to hundreds of thousands of families. This number has grown exponentially since their beginning in 1994 when they served just over 30 customers. In fact, the total amount served during the first eleven years, was surpassed during the period of January to November 2006.

The success of the organization is due to many factors. High-quality products, excellent savings, generous volunteers, and of course, God's grace have all contributed to the growth of Angel Food Ministries.

Each month, a menu is posted on their website and distributed to host sites. The menu will vary from month to month, but it will always contain high-quality, nutritious foods. Angel Food Ministries does not distribute any day-old goods, seconds, cans without labels, or other products of questionable quality. In fact, the food you will receive from Angel Food Ministries is restaurant quality.

Some examples of the types of food can be seen on their website:

You will easily be able to see what a terrific bargain this is. Each medium size box order will feed a family of four for about one week. This same amount is approximately enough food to feed an elderly person for an entire month.

The food included in the $25 unit is a combination of frozen and fresh goods. There will be items included that are fit for breakfast, lunch, or supper, as well as a dessert.

Customers are not limited to any amount. After purchasing one $25 order of the month's menu, customers are eligible to order specials for the month. The specials vary just like the monthly menu. This adds variety to the menu and extends the opportunity for customers to save even more.

Takeaways
  • A single order of $25 is worth a retail value of approximately $50 when compared to retail prices.
  • A single box will feed a family of four people for one week.
  • Angel Food Ministries is a non-denominational organization.
Did You Know?
From January to November of 2006, Angel Food Ministries fed more people than during the previous eleven years combined.

We really appreciated Angel Food ministries when we were in a financial bind last year. It's worth noting, though, that much of the food is processed and not very healthy. I do think the provide a great ministry to families who otherwise couldn't afford much meat, and who really need the extra help with their monthly grocery budget.
