If you or someone you love is having a problem with drug or alcohol addiction Raleigh offers a limited number of choices.

Not everyone who drinks or takes a drug is habituated or addicted. Most of the time we can tell if we or someone we know has a problem.

Can they say no if offered the substance? If not, perhaps they have a problem.

Do they seem to have a lot of DWI or DUI driving offenses? Do they often have to leave every so often; to take a little of the substance? Perhaps they have a problem.

Do they have difficulty functioning in a somewhat normal way? They could have a problem.

Even if you just come up with just a simple  “Maybe!”; a rehabilitation center can help you discover the true nature of the problem.

They know how to determine if it is a problem related to a drug/chemical or if something else may be the root cause. It may be difficult, but knowing for certain and putting a plan in place can feel awfully good.

Because each type of problem we experience requires a different solution and level of service, there is no one best place that takes care of all men’s and women’s needs related to problems with alcohol and drugs.

Here are three rehabilitation centers or organizations with centers in Raleigh, N.C.

South Light Incorporated is the first. In most cases they deal with, they perform outpatient services, though they do offer a wide spectrum of programs. South Light is a United Way sponsored non-profit that has been fighting drug abuse since the 1970s.

They provide a multitude of services through separate offices and programs around Raleigh and Durham. The services provided include drug treatment, methadone treatment, halfway housing for recovering addicts, counseling and court intervention.

They also provide special services for women through their Fuquay-Varina location. In this program they are engaged in issues involving housing, single parenting, primary care, food stamps and Medicaid.
