Sometime we get stuck in a rut. Sometimes we just get burnout. We get tired of doing the same routines and instead of trying something new, we just quit. Of course, I am talking about our exercise routine or our lack of one. How many days do you get up with a plan? You are going to make these changes for your health. You are going to exercise. You are going to eat better. You are going to start that diet. And what do you end up doing nothing? You end the day saying you will start tomorrow.
But tomorrow can be today. Here are some tips to get you motivated, to get you started.
You will fit into that piece of clothing you love so much. Have you seen the commercial about the itsy, bitsy, yellow, poked, dotted bikini? The idea may actually work. Put out that favorite pair of jeans, dress, bikini, whatever. Actually seeing it, may inspire you.
Get a pal to exercise with you. It is true misery loves company. Or in this case the competition may motivate you. You know you would love to be skinner than your friends, admit it.
Buy some cute clothes. Don't exercise in boring clothes, over sized tees and shorts that you don't want to be seen in public. If you dress the part, you will act the part.
Try exercising the first thing in the morning. I know not everyone is a morning person (I'm not). If we wait until later in the day, we may be too tired or too busy.
If you have small kids, try to get them involved. I know kids have small attention spans. But they may think it is funny seeing mommy or daddy jumping all around the room or yard. Plus, they make great free weights.
Workout with a variety of music. Music is good for the soul. It will also keep you moving.
Before you start your program, make a list as to why you should be exercising. Now make a list as to why you aren't exercising. Which list is longer? Which list is full of real reasons instead of excuses?
Remember to start slowly, especially if you haven't exercised in a while. You have to train your muscles to stretch, to bend more. Give them the time you need.
Expect to be a little sore the next morning. Warm baths are great treats after exercising.
